About Greenelf ...

GREENELF is a small studio, devoted to producing objects that are useful or beautiful.  The emphasis is on using traditional hand crafting techniques,
and natural or recycled materials.

"Have nothing in your houses that you do not know   to be useful or believe to be beautiful."

~William Morris (1834-1896)

  • In November 2000, Paul and Marie purchased 15 acres of gorgeous Muskoka forest, complete with granite shield poking out all over the place.

  • In January 2001, we rescued an old log cabin that was scheduled for demolition near Coldwater, Ontario.

Introducing Greenelf of Barrie...

Marie is a knitting instructor and rug hooker.  She grew up in an old house, and has always been fascinated by traditional textile crafts.

Paul is a woodworker and rustic artist, specializing in hand turned rug hooking handles and simple rustic artefacts for use around the home.

Marie and Paul are currently based in their century home in Barrie, but spend spare time re-building a 100+ year old log cabin on their 15 wooded acres in Muskoka which will become home and studio when it is finished.

We are both committed environmentalists and obtain many of our raw materials from recycled sources.  Those that we cannot get second hand, we purchase locally.

Our products include the following and new items are being
added all the time:

- Traditional hooked rugs and ornaments
- Knitting kits containing hand dyed cashmere,
hand painted yarn, and recycled sari silk

- Hand turned rug hooking handles
- Flax seed and lavender eye pillows and pincushions,
and cat nip toys
